Transforming the lives and life chances of children through the joy of singing…

Our Schools Singing Programme is an educational partnership available to all primary schools across South Yorkshire. Our expert cathedral musicians will visit your school to deliver a high quality music curriculum through fun music and singing activities which take place in the classroom. The children will also have opportunities to sing in Sheffield Cathedral.

Through participating in the programme children will:

  • Make new friends

  • Learn new skills for life

  • Open their minds to new opportunities

  • Raise their hope and aspirations

  • Develop the confidence to stand taller, to sing louder and to have the self-belief to overcome challenges in life

“Singing makes me feel free. It’s my favourite thing to do every week. I love it so much I sing all the time at home now too!” Chiara, age 9

‘Music touches the very heart of our humanity and a sense of the wonder of music has touched human societies throughout history. Music education offers young people the chance to understand, perform and create in an aural dimension that often sits outside our capacity to describe in words. For many pupils, the music they love will be part of the narrative of their lives and bring colour to the experiences that shape them.’
