Cathedral Volunteers

Sheffield Cathedral volunteers work in a huge range of roles and without them our building and community would not function as smoothly as it does! Read Joseph's story...

Joseph's Story

"As a volunteer welcomer at Sheffield Cathedral you are on the “front line” meeting visitors in the entrance foyer.  This means you are often the first point of contact for visitors and this is a great source of satisfaction and service, being able to interact with the public and give a warm and friendly welcome.  Every volunteer shift is different and always interesting.  As Cathedral events are multi-faceted and varied, so are the people that visitor the Cathedral.

Being a volunteer in such a vibrant and living hub is rewarding and enriching.

Volunteering at the Cathedral also places you at the centre of life in Sheffield as volunteers are involved in hosting civic, corporate and community events, as well as being the heart of the church liturgy.

Being a volunteer in such a vibrant and living hub is rewarding and enriching and I have grown immeasurably in the love and appreciation of the living history of Sheffield, the Cathedral’s insights and knowledge of Sheffield’s fascinating past."
