On Tuesday 8th November the Cathedral held a remembrance service with school children from across Sheffield.
One hundred children attended to learn about the battles, trenches, and lives of those affected by world wars. This included looking at the battle of the Somme and how this battle in particular impacted lives in Sheffield.
Each school made and brought postcards, used to create the wreaths laid during the service. The Deputy Lord Mayor and Colonel Norton from the York and Lancashire regiment were also present.
The day was made possible by funding received from the Community Covenant Fund and was a tremendous success. The schools' postcards will be available to view in St George's Chapel in the Cathedral for the next few days.
