
On Saturday 11th June Sheffield Cathedral will be marking Her Majesty The Queen's 90th birthday with a very special celebration.
A 'Kings and Queens' banquet will be held for 90 people over 70 years of age who have been nominated by members of the community to honour the contribution they have made in the community over many years.
The banquet will include music from a Piano Trio and a Gospel choir and each person will receive a rose as a sign of God’s love for them. Guests will also receive a complementary booklet entitled The Servant Queen And The King She Serves published by the Bible Society, HOPE and LICC.
The Cathedral will be closed to the public between 10am and 3pm for the celebration, with Morning Prayer and Holy Communion taking place at 9am.
This summer, Sheffield Cathedral will be transformed into a vibrant tapestry of colour, silk, and sacred storytelling, as it welcomes the stunning exhibition Threads through the Cross by renowned textile artist Jacqui Parkinson. Opening on Thursday 7 August, the exhibition invites visitors on a powerful journey through the final days of Jesus’s life – and what came after – told through 18 bold and beautiful stitched panels.
Sheffield Cathedral is thrilled to announce that Christine Barker, a dedicated volunteer for six years, has been named the recipient of the Association of English Cathedrals’ Volunteer of the Year Award. Dean Abi made the announcement during the recent Volunteers’ Week celebrations, which came as a wonderful surprise to Christine.

Since opening in 2015, 1554 has grown from a modest idea into a vibrant community hub in the heart of the city - a welcoming space where good coffee, conversation, and connection come together every day.
This May, the South Yorkshire Organ Festival returns for its second year, celebrating the instrument widely considered the oldest and most complex in the world. From church lofts to cinema auditoriums, South Yorkshire - especially Sheffield - boasts a wealth of fine organs, many of which will be opened up to the public throughout the four-day event.
